The asset register in practice

Reading an asset record

The sections of an asset: overview, spatial, attributes, condition and history.

30 min

The record is grouped by what you are asking

  • Overview — identity, classification, location, status and custodian
  • Spatial — geometry, spatial reference, easting/northing and mapping state
  • Attributes — the subtype-specific values the taxonomy defines for this asset
  • Condition and risk — condition rating, criticality, risk score and assessment date
  • Financial — replacement value, expected life, remaining life and written-down value
  • History — inspections, defects, work orders and every recorded change

Where the value came from

Each populated field records whether its value came from the source file, was calculated by Spatial7, or was deliberately overridden by a user. That is how you tell a derived figure from a supplied one.
