Defects, photographs and follow-up work
Photographs, position and handover
Evidence that stands up, and handing work to maintenance cleanly.
30 min
Photographs that are evidence
- Include the whole asset, then a close-up of the defect
- Include something that shows scale
- Photograph the location reference — a street sign, a pit lid, a drawing number
- Check the photograph is in focus and correctly exposed before you leave site
Position
Capture the field position with the record. It confirms where the assessment was made, and it lets a defect be checked against the asset's mapped geometry.
Handover to maintenance
Once a defect is prioritised it can be turned into a work order with a work type — preventive, corrective, reactive, emergency, renewal or compliance — an assignee or contractor, and a due date. The work order keeps its link to the originating defect, so the asset's history shows the fault and the fix together.
