Drawing and editing asset geometry
Editing, reshaping and the geometry audit
Moving and reshaping features, and how every geometry change is recorded.
40 min
Editing safely
Move whole features, drag individual vertices, or insert a vertex between two existing ones. Every change is validated before it is written: invalid geometry is rejected rather than stored.
The geometry audit
Each geometry change is recorded with:
- the action — created, moved, reshaped, vertex added, vertex deleted, updated
- the geometry before and after, in the asset's authoritative reference
- the asset's identity and spatial reference at the time
- who made the change, and when
Removing geometry
A feature can be deleted from the map without deleting the asset. The record keeps its coordinates as a locatable reference and its mapping state becomes Missing — not yet located, so nothing is silently lost.
